project 01 preliminary

Hi Everybody!

for my preliminaries i decided to go for two completely different looks, the first one is based on the black bear diner as i thought that a restaurant would be the most prominent theme and this ones theme is its classic feel. i used its 80 classic brown and expanded it analogously. i was also inspired by gaming websites for the area above the main blurb

for the other preliminary i looked at a modern clothing website for inspiration, i took some of the ways they lined up their different boxes and decided that it might look interesting, the colors where a homey pastel to make the modern feel more expressed.

Hey Damiano,
I like the way you arranged the tabs for both designs. How the tabs extend past the graphic adds alot to the design. I do like the layout with the darker tones, as I feel the green and yellow color palettes for the other set is rather harsh on the eyes. But overall, the ease of use for both designs excels nicely. Great designs!

Hi Damiano,
I really like how you decided to go two different ways when it came to the color schemes of both designs. I also think you did a great job with the placements of your layouts, especially because it seems like your website would be easy to navigate. However, I do think your second design is more pleasing on the eyes because the first design's neon colors are very bright, and makes it hard to focus on the rest of the content on the page. Overall these designs look great, and I think you did a really good job!

Hi Damiano,
You did great work on your two designs. The one that sticks out to me the most is the first designs. I think the bright yellow and lime green make the website pop out instantly and in contrast with a script font it works well. I would maybe suggest making the body paragraph slightly larger so that It is easier to see the words.
Your second design is also really well done, I like the way you laid out the Projects 1,2, and 3 at the top next to the resources, It looks very clean and easy to navigate. Maybe I would move the TMCC logo slightly higher so it isnt completely parallel with your email address.
Great work!

Hey Damiano!

I like the layout of the first design, however, my eyesight enjoys the colors of the 2nd design! The Green is way to bright combined with a even higher brighter yellow that's very hard to focus on every other aspects. The first design is very well organized, I feel like the font needs to change around a bit and perhaps bold the name to help the order of importance too. Just Bolding the text of titles will help the order of importance!

Excited to see more soon!

Hi Damiano,

It's great how both designs have a very clear layout, I especially liked the first design. I'd only say that the green/yellow contrast is quite harsh on the eye.

Oh I like your maroon and red second design, Damiano. It's got a great look and feel to it.

I especially like your use of a secondary container inside your white background on that design. Good use of overlap. Everything seems to nest together or emerge from behind each other. I like the use of the circular image as a focal point for your design. It immediately draws the eye and contrasts nicely with your squares and rectangles. The grayscale image works well too. It almost lets your other colors from the website bleed into it. Your top bar makes for a great upper frame on your composition. It serves to lock everything in. I also like how it's a little down from the very top. Usually, I'd be saying that your link title didn't need their darker boxes, but I like the look here. I really like your vertical buttons that go out the top of your top bar and bleed off the top edge. Really draws the eye to 'em which is something you want with navigation.

I'd say rather than doing a uniform maroon background on your mobile version, you should do the maroon container inside a larger white background like you did on your computer version. You've got all the elements there alrerady, it just needs a little more contrast. I also think you don't need the secondary dark box behind your bodycopy. It pops nicely against your maroon box already. Add a little more space between your email and your logo in your topbar on your computer design. Watch the right margin of your class info at the bottom of your maroon box on your computer layout.

Good work!

Hi Damiano! I like the layouts in both of your designs, but the second one is a bit more interesting to look at! I'm just not fond of the color choices for either, you first one is super saturated and the bright green & yellow combo sort of hurts to look at, and your seconds easier to look at but your top bar and the project/link tabs blend in together because of dark they are, I'd recommend taking a look at them in grayscale and adjusting the values.

Hi Damiano,
I really like both of the layout designs that you have created. I especially like the second one. I think that the shape that you use to round out your image was a really good choice. I do like the layout for the first one, however the color scheme is not my favorite. Overall I think that you did a really great job!

I really like the colors of the first one. The second one feels more modern and could probably work better. I like the curvy font as well in the second one. I think you should us the curvy font as the title and pages font, and a cleaner more basic one for your bio and email to boost readability. The circle around the pic is a good touch. I would also use a higher resolution pic. Good work!
