Re: 1st rough
Interesting design choice, I'm digging the simplicity although there is a little bit of negative space issues especially in the top-left-hand corner. Maybe a headshot could go there make it a little more personal and add some color to the design? Well done.

I'm liking this so far, I would just like to see the second one to compare =)

Its a good start, where is your 2nd rough for comparison?
On the one you've got for us here, where are your link holders? I see course name, grc 175, and semester date, but there isn't any link holders for Project 2, Project 3, Resources, ect.
Perhaps in that empty space in the upper left, you can add in some bullet markers with the links there?
I really feel like where you have the text for semester date, and class info that's where the link holders should be place, and then use the open space for identifying the webpage, and yourself.

This is my favorite of your two design. I love the dimension of the background image, and also like the way that you incorporate the links into the image. I agree that the top left could use something for balance. Perhaps your name in a larger type; another color in addition to the yellow would really pop. Body copy or an image would also work well.

Out of your two roughs, I prefer this much more. Your type choice is nice however i'm having problems with balance in your design. Your photograph looks good, but the type color (yellow) I think doesn't fit very well with your black and white photo. How about making it completely B&W?
There's also a huge empty space in the top-right corner of your layout that needs to be filled in.. Maybe your link holders can go there! Anyway, good job so far!

I'm not seeing the second design. First one is really cool, having a hard time reading the type on the bench although cool concept. great job!!!!

I like this design, the only thing that throws me off is all the empty space in the upper left corner. Other than that I think it really unique.

I really like this! I love that the angles draw your eyes in. I think that you could add some color to this to really make it interesting and pop. Great job!
