Daves Final Project 1

Post by diggitydave »

Out of my two roughs you all picked the same one, It was the one I really liked also. Using some of the great notes and suggestions I received (thank you!) I think I nailed it. i like it anyhow. I found an old 30,40's style font called Grand Hotel. Made me think of the shining. Better legibility and keeps with the old film feeling. Went to black for font color and used old B&W film numbers for the buttons. I may add a small oscar later just for giggles, hide it in the corner, really small. If anyone spots it and clicks it it will go to like a list of my favorite films or something. Anyway, here is my final, for now.

I like the overall design of this final. I especially reli like the "filmaking" theme you got going on here. The textures are great as well. Its simple and professional. Easy to follow as well. Great Job! =)

Not too sure about the use of script for your "about" section. Makes a little hard to read. The "1 2 3" pics are great but I'm wondering why you didn't pick ones that were consistent in style?

Scripty type does not fit this theme that you have. A type-writer font would do well but this scripty thing is just not sitting well. Try American Typewriter, pretty good monospaced font that reads well enough for small body copy and headlines on a website. If it's really heavy in body copy you might have to find a good sans-serif font that will do the trick but the theme is really good, such great imagery to go along with it just have to nail the typography.

I love the "old-film" theme and the colors going on here! Very expressive. Good choice on adding a white glow around your type too! It helped lift the words from the really dark background so it's easier to spot. That graphic on the left side however appears to bitmap on my side but other than that, i'm liking your design a lot. Good work!

Look'n good boss, think the only thing I would play with would be that TMCC at the bottom be tied in with the line right above it, and see how that looks?

To me TMCC by itself at the bottom just seems a little off, but play with see how it looks and feels for ya.

overall very nice, looks good!

The movie film design is awesome. The only trouble I'm having is reading the script font that you chose for the paragraph.

Oooh, grungy!

I like the 1930s guerilla (or is that gorilla ;) ) film make quality this whole design has. The sepia tone and the splatter decay texture works well. I like the film frame as web page conceit. I also find the use of film leader for your navigation buttons working quite well.

I don't care for the script font. I think something like ITC Anna or a proper grunge font would work a little better. Also, I'd make all your button text the same size.

A strong design that just oozes character. A neat idea, well executed.

This is such a great design! love the movie theme you have and the colors all go together nicely, you also have really good texture going on there. My only suggestion is that the font you used to write the paragraph in is a little difficult to read so maybe consider changing the type to something a little bit more readable, but other than that great job.

Wow, the burnt style of film looks great, well done. I have to agree with everyone else though, the script type is a little difficult to read, try playing with a different font? Good job overall though.
