Project 1 Preliminary Work
Hello! For this preliminary critique, I mainly took inspiration from the websites https://www.cjcawley.com/ and https://www.planetpeoplestudio.com/ because they both have very bold communicative styles and I really liked their layouts, especially on mobile. As for my designs, I'm definitely going to be adding more color and choosing better pictures because I look sad

Hello Kai,
I like the arrow you’ve added for the first design, it’s a good way to guide the viewers eyes through the page’s information. Overall, it’s also a very playful trait with personality. The second design’s wavy borders is also a good touch. Perhaps you could combine both design styles together. I would recommend having a lighter color palette for the first design though, otherwise the arrow might stand out less with darker hues. Nice touches!

Hey Kai,
I really like the layout with the arrow. Its a cool way to lead the eye across the entire webpage while being a neat design choice, the handwriting-like fonts really match the vibe too.

Hi Kai,
I like the bright color scheme you chose for your green and orange design, especially the wavy texture you added for the top bar because it definitely gets the attention of the viewer. I also like the arrow that wraps around the homepage in your other designs because it conveys a sense of personalization and character. However, I'd suggest maybe adding some more color in your arrow design so that it could grab the attention of the viewer better. Overall, I really like the legible fonts you chose throughout all of your designs, and I'll be looking forward to whichever design you decide to go with in your final!

Hey Kai!
I'm not sure why, I genuinely love the first design, it feels like it has a sketch aesthetic, it feels like it's animated but it's not. It's legible, I clearly see the order of importance, It's simple and I love it.
Even in the 2nd design, you understand the order of importance, it's lovely!
Excited to see more!

Hi Kai,
I really liked how both of your designs are quite bold (in opposite directions). I especially liked the second one, it's both minimalist and in your face and the font really matches the style.

I really like your sketchy first design, Kai. It's got a thrown together whiteboard feel that's fascinating.
That arrow makes for an awesome through line on the whole thing. Really grabs the eye and drags it through the composition. "You WILL read this info THIS way!" The whole thing has the feel of someone dictating notes at the front of a class. Or maybe someone's scrap/sketch book. Everything that's not a sketch looks placed on there after being cut out of some other source. Moodboard as website. A very neat aesthetic. I really like the typeface you've chosen for your titles as well. It feels very hand drawn and compliments your aesthetic well. It's also easy to read without being boring. Quite a feat. Your navigation is easy to find and hopefully to use.
I don't think your bodycopy needs to be a separate font though. I think the lighter version of your headline/tile font that you used for your class info would work just fine for your bodycopy and links. It has more of a handwritten feel that goes with your design anyway.
Good work!
Oh, and don't forget to put your name in your forum sig. I noticed it's missing.

Hi Kai! I really love the simplicity of your first design, the arrow is a great touch to help navigate the eyes. I'm sort of against adding any color to it if you go forward with that design, but I'm also pretty curious to how it could look!

I think the arrows are really cool. I really like that first one. I think you could mess with the layout to bring more space and attention to the arrows, however they are a nice concept. The black and white is simple yet effective. The typeface also matches the style of the arrows nicely and it brings a playfulness to the seriousness of black and white. It feels like an old website done in a new way. Im not sure you need to list all of the projects and references, but rather a button that brings you to a page with the things on them. Or just say, project 2 and project 3. It doesn’t need a title in my opinion. This looks really good though and Im excited to see what it turns into!

Hi Kai,
I really like both of the design layouts that you have created. I personally like the second layout with the yellow and green color scheme the most. I feel like it condenses down really well into the mobile layout. I also think that it is a very strong theme. Overall I think that you did a really great job!
