In a recent survey of industry representatives, 60% said that an associate degree related to Graphic Arts & Media Technology was the level of training they were looking for when hiring for entry-level positions. With this in mind, the program offers a full range of Certificates and Associates degrees, in addition to our new Advanced Certificate.
Graphic Design
According to the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), graphic design is defined as “the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content.” In other terms, graphic design communicates certain ideas or messages in a visual way. These visuals can be as simple as a business logo, or as complex as page layouts on a website.
The Graphic Design Track at TMCC develops skills and knowledge in areas of creative problem solving, research and design thinking, design history, typography and layout using technologies for a variety of print and screen-based media. Instruction includes the use of industry standard graphics software, and program computer labs are equipped with the latest Apple computers with support scanners, printers, a sound recording facility and a complete prepress/print shop facility.

Web/UI Development
Web design is the process of planning, conceptualizing, and arranging content online. Today, designing a website goes beyond aesthetics to include the website’s overall functionality. Web design also includes web apps, mobile apps, and user interface design.
The Web/UI Development Track at TMCC is a unique combination of creativity and technology, developing skills and knowledge in design, layout and typography with a variety of the latest Internet-based programming languages.

Motion Graphics
Motion graphics are pieces of animation or digital footage which create the illusion of motion or rotation, and are usually combined with audio for use in multimedia projects. Motion graphics designers create artwork for the web, television or film. This could include movie clips, trailers, commercials, title sequences, etc. They use visual effects, animation and other cinematic techniques to bring life to their creations.
The Motion Graphics Track at TMCC develops skills and knowledge in areas of motion and time-based media, including storyboarding, video production, sound, traditional and 2D animation techniques, and 3D animation (CGI and special effects).
