Creative Kids Learning Center

About Us

Our History

Creative Kids Learning Center is owned and operated by Tina & Travis Taylor. The first center was created in April 2003 and was opened in Gladstone, MO. In 2008, the second and third centers were developed and were opened Tracy, MO and Kansas City, MO. Each of our locations are state licensed child care facilities and we follow all Licensing rules provided by the Missouri Department of Health.

Tina Taylor began her career in education when she graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelors Degree in Early Education. After school, she accepted a position as a director for a daycare center in Kansas City, MO. Tina decided within the year of being employed as a director that this was her career path that she wanted to follow. In fact, instead of going back to teaching or working as a director she was certain that she wanted to open a learning center of her own. Her goal was to make a difference in each child's life by teaching them but now she was determined to do the same for them and their families. The first enter was developed in April 2003 in Gladstone, MO.

Travis Taylor began his career as a fulltime Firefighter/EMT with the City of Excelsior Springs and has been there for 20 years. He joined Creative Kids in 2010. He frequently comes in on his days off to help out around the all of the centers. He loves to get involved with what the children are learning and experiencing throughout the day. The kids love it when he comes in!

Curriculum

Creative Kids uses the Applebaum Training Institutes Monthly Thematic Curriculum. This curriculum uses age appropriate activities are scheduled with flexibility allowed to respond to the needs of the individual child and day. We will offer times for outside play, crafts, stories, instruction, music, and naps appropriate to the child's ages, interests, and abilities. Please dress your child in clothing that they can learn and play in without worrying about getting dirty or staining. Do not send them in dress clothes. We let them be children, we have fun, and sometimes it can be a little messy. Chores, such as picking up, putting things away, and helping to set the table will be a part of the day. We provide a flexible theme program, developing large and small motor skills. We do arts and crafts where the focus is on the process, not the product. Free play is an important part of a child's early years. It is here that they learn social skills that will be needed the rest of their lives.

“We believe that each child is unique and holds the future in their hands.”
