Dan Bouweraerts
Professor, Graphic Designer, Full-time Dad
After fighting bravely in World War I, Dan Bouweraerts decided it was time to settle down and live a more traditional life. So naturally, he renewed his long time passion for graphic design. Dan attended a prestigious Design School in California, earning his Master's degree in just nine short years.
Not long after graduating, Dan returned to the Reno area and immediately got a job working for the behemoth Peppermill Resort Casino. Just as quickly as he got the job, he was fired. Apparently The Peppermill was dissatisfied with his refusal to use any tools other than a pencil, pink pearl eraser, and marker set. However, he used his firing as motivation. With markers in hand, Dan went down to the local electronics store and bought his first computer. The rest, as they say, is history. He spent endless nights learning the ins and outs of the computer as well as design software.
Brian Wells
Professor, Artist, Part-time Fisherman
Formerly served in the Navy where his career became the loose basis for the character “Jonesy” in the book “The Hunt for Red October.” He attended Cal Arts where upon graduation, he turned down a job to play Prince Charming at Disneyland, and began drawing pustules, ear infections, and blood shot eyes on the Ren & Stimpy show. He also was an artist on the Simpsons when it was good.
Acclaimed animator and videographer, Brian helps teach students at TMCC learn the basics of animation and shooting video. He has worked on anything and everything from Ren and Stimpy to Old Navy commercials. In his spare time he draws and spends time with his family. He also is still active in the animation community in Northern Nevada, consulting for commercials and web advertisements.
Ron Marston
Professor, Adobe Grand Master
One way to describe Ron Marston is "Calm and Composed" which makes him terribly scary at times. He is by far the most mellow professor that I know but don't be fooled by his looks, he is the embodiment of a "Calm before a storm" so don't you even dare try to test his patience.
Ron is also very knowledgeable when it comes to printing. He is also a certified Adobe Creative Suit Grand Master and has memorized the entire dictionary of Adobe's shortcut keys. Ron has one belief and that is to never, EVER, try to harm a pixel in a photograph. Just don't. He is very sensitive when it comes to it and treats the pixels like tiny little babies so please, don't harm it for his sake.
Ron only works in the graphics industry our of pure pleasure, he has taught at the community college level for 10 years and enjoys every minute of it. For Ron there is nothing better than teaching young minds, and giving back to the community.
Michael Ganschow-Green
Web Master, Part-time Instructor, Web Guru
Michael has mastered every dirty little secret in Dreamweaver and loves to make websites explode and put them back together agian. It was clear from a very early age that Michael Ganschow was meant to be a web designer/developer. His very first word was not just one word, but three: "Uniform Resource Locator." At the age of five, while other kids were just hyper, Michael was studying Hyper Text Markup Language.
At the age of 15 he decided to skip high school and begin his formal web training at TMCC. This, however, did not last very long. His former teacher became frustrated that Michael's scope of knowledge far surpassed his own. It was no longer than a couple weeks into the semester before his teacher quit. In need of a replacement, Dan Bouweraerts (head of the graphics program) asked Michael if he would be willing to teach the class. Michael, without hesitation, said yes and has been the web design instructor ever since.
